SINGAPORE – QR codes have come into their own amid the Covid-19 pandemic as people scan them to enter places such as shops and eateries but they have gained very little ground when it comes to making digital payments.

Use of the codes – which store information and can be read by a phone camera – has risen only slightly here among consumers when paying for goods and services, despite the convenience they provide, noted a recent study.
